The beach of Agios Ioannis is the ideal place for kitesurfing in Lefkada, only 10 min by car from our accommodation complex, Saint Thomas Village. Apart from amazing crystal water and golden sand, this beach also has deep water. A favorite kitesurfspot on the beach of Agios Ioannis is in front of the windmill, on the right side of the beach, as the wind is more stable there (15-20 knots). More specifically, in the morning the wind is 4-5 knots at the beach of Agios Ioannis and as the day proceeds the wind becomes stronger, reaching 14-19 knots. The best period for kitesurfing is from April to September.
The beach of Vassiliki, on the southern side of the island, is the ultimate destination for windsurfing in Lefkada. The waters of Vassiliki bay are very shallow making it ideal for novice windsurfers. During the day, the wind changes in strength and direction. In the midday, there is a light breeze making it perfect for those who want to try this sport for the first time. However, in the afternoon, when the wind is stronger, advanced windsurfers can practice their wave jumps and tricks.
